Biography of Clementine Margaine

This is how a Russian journalist recently described the young mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine after a concert with works by French composers, which she gave in April 2010 in St. Petersburg. After completing her piano studies at the CNR and the Conservatory of Perpignan Montpellier, Clémentine Margaine began her vocal studies with Anne-Marie Blanzat. In 2003 she entered the Paris Conservatory in the class of Gerda Hartman and was awarded in her final exam with a "Diplôme Supérieur" summa cum laude.
In 2009 Clémentine Margaine was selected "révélation classique" and awarded with the Special Jury Prize at the Concours International de Marmande.
In Royaumont she attended master classes in Baroque style, with Nicolau de Figuereido, in the classic Lied with Anne Grappotte, Jeff Cohen and Ruben Lifschitz.
In 2006 she was invited by William Christie to sing "La Discorde" and "Roxanne" in EUROPE GALANTE by André Campra in Versailles, Bilbao and San Sebastian, followed by "Bradamante in Handel`s ALCINA, "Annio" in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO and the "Third Lady" in THE MAGIC FLUTE in Avignon, Reims and Vichy. Clémentine returned later to Avignon as "Opinion Publique" in ORPHEE AUX ENFERS.
In the Abbey of Royaumont Margaine presented herself with Mussorgsky's SONGS AND DANCES OF DEATH. At the Festival of Saint-Céré she sang the title role in CARMEN conducted by Dominique Trottein.
Oratorios such as Rossini`s MESSE SOLENELLE and STABAT MATER, Duruflé's REQUIEM, Dvorak's STABAT MATER and the CHRISTMAS ORATORIO by Saint-Saens belong to the standard concert-repertoire of the artist.
In 2010/11 she will sing CARMEN in the production "Concerts de Poche" under the direction of David Walter and the Third Lady in THE MAGIC FLUTE in Avignon.
In October this year she will sing Verdi`s REQUIEM in Klagenfurt and Mahler`s KINDERTOTENLIEDER in Dijon and in Chalon sur Saône.
From next season 2011/12 Clémentine Margaine will be a member of the cast at Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she will introduce herself in a staged version of Verdi's REQUIEM.
